“I had a great experience with this program...I now understand the challenges and accomplishments that health care careers have to offer. Overall, my goals for Public Health/Policy have definitely been impacted in a positive way!”
- MPTH Participant
During needs assessments conducted with My Pathway to Health (MPTH) participants, two areas of need stood out amongst the opportunity youth we were serving: access to technology and free/affordable therapy. We are proud to report UNITE-LA was able to secure free new laptops for MPTH as well as Step into Tech participants who qualified for Microsoft's Affordable Connectivity Program | Federal Communications Commission (fcc.gov). Two additional laptops for MPTH participants were secured through our partnership with My Friend's Place.
We are also thrilled to announce our new partnership with Antioch University, who has agreed to provide free telehealth therapy services to all our participants.
On July 20, participants successfully completed part one of My Pathway to Health, where they explored careers and training opportunities in allied health, received mentor and staff support, earned Basic Life Support certifications through the Red Cross, and were certified in UNITE-LA’s WorkforceReady Focused and Work-Readiness programs. Upon completion, participants were awarded a LinkedIn badge and were invited to join the My Pathway to Health LinkedIn page, a private group where they will be able to stay connected with staff, mentors and their peers and share resources, opportunities, grows and glows.
With the support of staff, participants are currently transitioning into part two where they are choosing a career and educational pathway. Over the next several months, they will continue to receive assistance from staff and mentors, wraparound support and stipends to help them on their pathway forward.
