UNITE-LA Today: No Autographs, Please

Last month, General Manager of the Youth Development Department, City of Los Angeles, and UNITE-LA Board Member, Lisa Salazar, invited two UNITE-LA superstars, Maria Marquez Alvarez, manager, L.A. Cash for College, and Matt Moor, manager, Postsecondary Systems, to LA CITYVIEW 35's studio set for a taping of "Protest and Promise."

The episode focused on the L.A. Cash for College program and its role in clarifying financial aid for post-secondary education. Featuring discussions with the Olivia E. Mitchell Youth Council, it delved into financial aid applications like FAFSA and the California Dream Act, the benefits of community colleges, and the L.A. College Promise program. Additionally, it tackled the challenges undocumented students face in accessing financial aid and emphasized the need for collaborative strategies to prevent "summer melt." By highlighting the necessity of coordinated support among educational partners, the episode reinforced our commitment to enhancing systemic access to financial aid, equipping students for their educational paths, and urging education systems to collaborate for student success.
