UNITE-LA 2020 Second Quarter Outcomes

Responding to challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, UNITE-LA, in collaboration with state, city and local partners, launched COVID College Connect, Summer of Success and Health Career Recruitment job placement efforts, while LA Youth at Work partnered with Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation to launch a virtual job training program that has already served over 200 local youth.

UNITE-LA 2020 First Quarter Outcomes

The Policy team led Early Care and Education, and K-12 and Higher Education/Immigration groups at the annual ACCESS D.C. advocacy trip; L.A. Cash for College coordinated 158 financial aid completion workshops, individually assisting 4,830 students in the completion of their FAFSA, CA Dream Act or Chafee Grant applications, and over 350 South L.A. students prepared for summer jobs and internships in the healthcare industry.

UNITE-LA hosted 740 Orthopaedic Medical Magnet H.S. students participated in a Biotech & Community Health Career Day , as well as Your Future LA: Beyond the Diploma, where 8,000 students engaged in seminars and workshops providing information on financial aid and college preparation.

UNITE-LA helped place 69 South L.A. youth in summer healthcare internships, give 30 youth first access to employment opportunities at Nike, supported a School Nurse Interview Day, and recognized employers who provide internships and jobs to youth at our Titans of Talent event.
