I am pleased to share with you some exciting news about UNITE-LA that will allow the organization to expand our reach and ensure more underserved youth have an opportunity to participate in the region’s dynamic, 21^st century economy.

Recently, UNITE-LA evolved out of its formal partnership with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce as an independent, crossector intermediary, building on more than 20 years of experience, dedicated to supporting the development of an effective public education system, so that ALL youth can succeed in college, career and beyond.

For the past 16 years, UNITE-LA and the Los Angeles Area Chamber have both prospered from a mutually beneficial partnership that has allowed us to engage in all bodies of work to benefit youth cradle to career. An independent UNITE-LA will continue to partner, advise and support the Chamber’s education initiatives while strengthening and expanding our regional partnerships with business organizations, school districts and cities and public agencies in Los Angeles County.

This work includes our ability to propel real systems change, influence needed changes in policy and conduct our direct programming efforts.

We are incredibly grateful to the UNITE-LA Board whose continued guidance and support allows us to be the best UNITE-LA, not just through this transition but every day. Our Board consists of tremendous leaders in Los Angeles who have the highest value for education, and we are all the better because of it.

My staff and I know and appreciate the privilege of having you with us on this important journey to build our local, state and national work and ultimately, advance L.A. youth with the skills necessary to compete and succeed in a global workforce.
